Early Life

Akanksha Awasthi was born in Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, on 17 July, and grew up training in classical dance from an early age — a discipline that would go on to inform her screen presence.

She was educated at Dayanand Girls Inter College in Lucknow before going on to graduate from Lucknow University, balancing her studies with an early, growing interest in performance.

She is fluent in Hindi, Bhojpuri and English, a range that would later serve her across both mainstream Hindi television and Bhojpuri-language cinema.

She went on to appear across several television dramas, including Raja Ki Aayegi Baraat on Star Plus and Beend Banoongaa Ghodi Chadhunga, steadily building her screen experience in the years that followed.

This stretch of television work laid the groundwork for the role that would define her breakout moment.

Chapter Three

Rise to Prominence

Her biggest television break came with the role of Rohini Jaiswal in Colors TV's long-running hit Uttaran — a performance that earned her the 16th Lions Gold Award and introduced her to a much wider audience.

In 2016, she made her Hindi feature film debut playing a Lady Constable in Rocky Handsome, opposite John Abraham, and the following year played Ridhi Kashyap in the Hindi television series Ishq Mein Marjawan.

In 2018, she crossed over into Bhojpuri cinema with her film debut in Dabang Sarkar, opposite Khesari Lal Yadav and Kajal Raghwani.

The following year, she took on a supporting role opposite Pawan Singh in Jai Hind and a lead role as Sandhya in Vivaah, opposite Pradeep Pandey "Chintu" — establishing herself within the industry alongside its leading stars.
