Born in Lucknow and trained in classical dance, Akanksha Awasthi began her career in Hindi television in 2006 before landing her breakout role as Rohini Jaiswal in Colors TV's long-running hit Uttaran — a performance that earned her the 16th Lions Gold Award. In 2018 she crossed into Bhojpuri cinema with Dabang Sarkar opposite Khesari Lal Yadav, and has since starred alongside Pawan Singh in Jai Hind and taken the lead in Vivaah.
